Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server and Hosting

Using a dedicated structured query language server to host your website will provide all visitors with a reliable and easy connection to all content you have up.  Since the majority of modern websites require vast amounts of information to operate and perform as they are designed, having a dedicated SQL server for hosting will make sure your website works every time for everybody.  When you go with a hosting company, you will be storing your website on a server with several hundred, if not thousand, other websites made by other people, with each site vying for resources.  While there are normally plenty of resources for each site to operate properly, larger sites, those dealing with media, or those that consume a large amount of bandwidth will normally need more resources than are available through a shared server.  Using a dedicated server that utilizes a standard computing language for hosting your website will provide users with the best possible access to your site.

All browsers and computer programs are equipped with the ability to understand SQL language.  SQL means standard query language, which is the language a computer uses to access the server where data is being stored.  When you type in a URL into your web browser, your computer will communicate with the server using an SQL, retrieving the information it needs.

There are two options when it comes to a dedicated SQL server for hosting, renting space on someone else's server or buying your own.  These options are normally available to anyone and everyone who is operating a website, but it may not be the best choice for all.

Renting Space on a Dedicated Server

While this is the more expensive option in the long term, renting hosting space on a dedicated SQL server will help you to understand if you really need this type of server space, or if you would be just fine using a shared server.  Most website hosting that deals with an application, anything that requires a login, or anything that allows users to access media, upload media, or store files, will most likely need a dedicated server to handle all the storage that will be needed along with all the bandwidth that will be consumed by users.  Let's say you are operating a photo sharing website where users can upload, store, and share their digital images with others.  There is no doubt that you will need a dedicated SQL server.

Renting from a hosting company is easy.  Since many of them operate multiple servers that allow all their customers to host websites, they will simply give you one of their servers for a fee.  This means that you will just be renting an entire name server, they will handle most of the back end work, and you will have a reliable storage operation for your large and popular website.  Also, if you are hosting multiple websites, you can share a dedicated server with all of your sites.  While that server would no longer be dedicated to a single site, if you have the bandwidth available, the server would still be dedicated to you and all of your work.

This option is one of the most expensive that a hosting company will provide, and not all hosting companies will have the ability to offer this option.

Buying your Own Servers

Purchasing your own Microsoft SQL servers for hosting will mean you have a dedicated server on your premises to host your content.  The actual machines with programming can be purchased through a number of different avenues, including online shops and major tech companies.  You will need to understand SQL programming and server maintenance to be capable of handling this option.  Setting up and working on a server will require specific knowledge about the SQL language and a deep understanding of how the server interacts with the various users accessing it.  One wrong piece of programming and your site will be down until it is fixed.

The good news, this is a great option in the long run for those who do understand it.  Operating your own dedicated SQL servers for hosting means having access to all your files whenever you need them, having almost unlimited storage space, and having complete control over your hosting.  While servers may be expensive, the cost is much better if you will need the storage space for the long term.  Buying your own servers and renting will normally balance out after a year or two, and you will be in the clear after that.

If you are taking your web hosting seriously and looking to start your own online empire, using a dedicated Microsoft SQL server for hosting will help you along the way.
